What RT 29 In Kingwood, Lambertville and West Amwell Could Look Like After Rockfall Mitigation

Here is a recent posting on our Facebook page by Lorraine Crown of Holland Twp. NJ, that I wanted to share.

FYI attached are before and current photos of the DoT “rock fall mitigation” project in Phillipsburg on eastbound 22 just past the toll booths and bridge from Easton. The first photo is the Google Earth image of the scene before. The second photo is a photo taken today showing all the trees and dirt removed down to rock. The project is also now a half-mile impact rather than the one-third mile impact noted on the Google Earth image. The third attachment here is the Project Program Description justifying it by saying there have been rock fall accidents here. I’ve driven this section of road for more than a decade and my sister drives it almost every day. Neither of us has ever seen rocks in the road or on the shoulder, nor have we ever heard of a rock fall accident. DoT claims the trees create a sight line problem. Truthfully, I never noticed the trees until they cut them all down. I suspect this is what’s in store for Devil’s Tea Table and Goat Hill.
