Plumstead Twp Passes Rockfall Mitigation Resolution

Many thanks to the Plumstead Twp. Board of Supervisors!

Last evening the Plumstead Twp. Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to pass a resolution questioning the RT 29 rockfall mitigation project and supporting other organizations and municipalities who are opposed to the project without a full environmental impact assessment and involvement of affected communities in exploring the real extent of the problem and all possible alternative solutions.

The BoS acted in response to a letter from Patricia Walsh-Collins, Facilitator of the Point Pleasant Community Association and the Devil’s Tea Table Alliance and a letter from the Lower Delaware Wild and Scenic Partnership requesting a resolution.

At the meeting, board members expressed concern that Open Public Records Requests reveal the state has no record of anyone being hurt or injured on route 29 as a result of falling rocks. They also expressed concerns over the potential unintended consequences of defoliation, other possible negative effects on Plumstead Twp. residents and businesses and the soaring cost of the project.

We will post the text of the resolution on our website and Facebook page when available.

Thanks again to the Plumstead Township Board of Supervisors for taking this necessary and important action.
