New Hope Borough Council Unanimously Passes Route 29 Rockfall Mitigation Resolution

Friends and Neighbors,

I’m very pleased to announce that on Tuesday, February 21, the New Hope Borough Council unanimously passed a resolution questioning and expressing concerns about the NJDOT Route 29 rockfall mitigation projects in Hunterdon County, NJ.

New Hope Borough joins nine other municipalities in Hunterdon and Bucks Counties in passage of such resolutions.  With the New Hope resolution in place every Township in Hunterdon and Bucks County, in areas affected by these projects, have expressed similar opposition or concern.  The Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners, the Lower Delaware Wild and Scenic Management Council and the Lenape Nation of PA have also registered opposition or concerns with the NJDOT rockfall projects.

We will now be redoubling our efforts with federal and state officials to be sure that any rockfall project that does occur is done so with a full environmental impact statement process and ongoing involvement of and approval by affected municipal leaders and other constituents.

Many thanks to the New Hope Borough Council for taking this action.

I will forward and post the resolution language as soon as it is available .

All the best,

Steve
